Fox Icon Search V1.0

Search open-source icons and place them directly into Adobe Illustrator as editable SVG vector artwork or transparent PNG images.

Installation — macOS

Unzip the downloaded package.
Open the installers folder.
Right-click Install-Fox-Icon-Search-Mac.command and choose Open.
If macOS blocks it, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.
Restart Illustrator.

Installation — Windows

Extract the ZIP completely.
Open the installers folder.
Double-click Install-Fox-Icon-Search-Windows.bat.
Restart Illustrator.

Open the extension

In Illustrator, choose Window → Extensions → Fox Icon Search V1.0. In some versions it appears under Window → Extensions (Legacy).

How to use

Open or create an Illustrator document.
Enter a word such as call, email, arrow, or camera, then press Enter.
Use the style filters if required.
Select an icon and choose its colour.
Select SVG Vector or PNG Transparent and enter a size.
Click Insert into Illustrator, or double-click an icon.

SVG size is measured in Illustrator points. PNG size is measured in pixels. Inserted artwork is centred on the active artboard.

Favourites and drag-and-drop

Click the star beside the selected icon to save it. The ★ filter shows saved icons. You can also try dragging a thumbnail onto the document; because Adobe CEP behaviour varies, the Insert button and double-click are the reliable methods.

Internet and licences

An internet connection is required. Icons are supplied through Iconify. Each icon set has its own open-source licence. Check the icon-set licence before commercial use or redistribution.

Troubleshooting

If the extension does not appear, restart Illustrator after installation.
If search fails, check the internet connection and firewall access to api.iconify.design.
If insertion fails, make sure an Illustrator document is open.
Re-run the installer after replacing the extension with an updated version.
